Stacking the Shelves #223

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Whew!  Life has been crazy busy lately.  If you missed my post earlier this week, I bought a house.  This was not a planned event.  We have lived in our house for almost 20 years and really had no plans to move.  Everything changed when a house that we have always loved in our subdivision went on the market a couple of weeks ago.  Everything has been moving very quickly.  We decided to look at the house and learned that if we decided to put an offer on it, we would need a pre-approval letter to be considered.  I forgot how much paperwork is involved in buying a home!  This week we had our inspection which went well.  We have a month to purge everything we can from our current house and getting ready for the move while trying to get our house ready to sell.
I hope that it will all feel worth it when everything is over and I am sitting on my back patio reading a book with this view!
What I’m Reading
Since my last Stacking the Shelves post 2 weeks ago.  I have only finished two books and one was really short.   It is just hard finding the time to read right now.

I am still working my way through Dragon Unleashed.  I started this book on May 23 and am still reading it.  I am enjoying the book but I am finding it really easy to set aside.  I just started listening to Proven Guilty and am enjoying it so far.

Books Added
Opium and Absinthe by Lydia Kang (Kindle First Read)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Good luck with your move, and congratulatiuons! That does look like a pretty awesome reading view! 🙂

  2. The paperwork is staggering, isn't it? There came a point where I was just signing where I was told and barely skimming anything. LOL You've got a great view while reading!

  3. Hello Carole! ?? Congrats on buying the house. Gotta go back and see previous posts. Good for you, that's a huge change! ???

  4. Oh, moving into a new house is so exciting…and stressful. But afterwards, once the boxes are unpacked and you are settled, pure bliss! Since you will be moving into a house in the same neighborhood, the move will be much simpler, won't it? How serendipitous to find that house you have always loved.

Enjoy your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I know packing up your life can be overwhelming, but also exciting. Sounds like you are not moving too far though, which is sort of nice. Good luck going through all your stuff.

  6. Congrats on the new house! That's amazing that the house you always loved became available. Hope all the transitioning goes well and your house sells fast too!

Nice new read! That's a new to me one. Haven't really gotten any of those Amazon First reads lately. Hope you enjoy the new read!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  7. I hope the move goes well but yes it is time-consuming. I listened to LOTs of audio books while packing, sort/throwing, cleaning and moving boxes and then unpacking. And June is audio book month! Enjoy your new home!

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  8. Yeah, the paperwork is insane. That is a relaxing view. Good luck with the purge.

It is probably hard to concentrate on books right now.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  9. Pretty view! I long to move house. It's a bit too small and I hate being joined on to two other buildings. We hear every noise from each side and to get out into the back garden, we have to go through the house as we have no access around the building! That is a nightmare when it comes to building or garden work! Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly for you!

  10. Great view to see while reading! Hope all is going well with your move and purging! I love the Dresden Files hope you continue to enjoy them! I so can't wait for the new ones to come out!

  11. Congrats and that is a lovely view. I always joked with Mr. Barb that when we bought our current home, it was the last time we were moving . However, it wasn't really a joke as everything involved in moving is so much work. However, that is quite a view!

  12. OH WOW. Congrats on the house; what an exciting move. I know it feels like ALL THE ANXIETY, but it'll be so much fun to start from scratch.

I'm listening to Dragon Unleashed and it's taking me a bit of time to get through it as well.

  13. We moved on a whim coming up on 11 years ago when I was a million months pregnant (okay make that 7 but it felt like a million) and I'm still not over it but it was most definitely worth it! I don't understand those people who move all the time just cause. I don't think I could handle it. Have a great week!

  14. Congratulations on your new house! That is so exciting, Carole! Good luck with the selling of your old home and the move. I hate the act of moving with a passion, but it makes the end result all the much better–settling into the new home. 🙂

I hope Dragon Unleased picks up a bit for you. And Enjoy Proven Guilty. Have a great week, Carole.

  15. My sister just bought a house and yeah she was telling me how much went into getting one and its crazy its that much paperwork. So hope your move goes smoothly. Looks like a great place to read. Congratulations darling!

I felt the same way about Dragon Unleashed though. Easy to put aside, although the later half was the BEST….So hope you enjoy finishing it up.

  16. Buying a house and moving is SO much work! It's fun, too, though 🙂 Good luck with it. I hope you love your new digs.
