Stacking the Shelves #244

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a quiet week which is exactly how I like it.   I went to work, worked on the blog, walked the dogs, and did a few things around the house.  I basically had that schedule on repeat for the entire week.   The only thing that happened that was a little out of the ordinary was that on Wednesday, I spent the entire day alone at the office.  It is not unusual for me to be alone at the office but being alone for an entire 8-hour workday is not the norm.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I started my week out focused on The Effort by Claire Holroyde which I really enjoyed.  It was an end of the world novel that was a little different than what I usually read.  I then shifted my attention to the book I was reading on my Kindle, The Transylvania Twist by Angie Fox.  This book went in a different direction than I expected but I did enjoy it.  You can look for my review in the next few days.  I also completed an audiobook, In the Penalty Box by Lynn Rush and Kelly Anne Blount.  The characters in this book were really well done and I had a great time with them while I passed the hours at work.

I always have one book going on my Kindle since I like to read a chapter on my device just before falling asleep so I started reading The Afterlife of the Party by Marlene Perez this week.  I am only a few chapters in but I am liking the setup.  I had tried to listen to Crown of Bones by A.K. Wilder but figured out pretty quickly that I was going to have more luck following the story if I actually sat down with the book.  There is a real possibility that I will finish this one before this post goes live and I am loving every moment of it.  I have a print copy of A Mother’s Promise by K.D. Alden for review but I decided to buy a copy when I was ready to start a new audiobook at work.  I think this might have been a good choice because the narrator is really fantastic and perfect for the story.

Books Added
Max Abaddon and the Will by Justin Leslie (For Review)
Friendship on Fire by Melissa Foster (For Review)
A Mother’s Promise by K.D. Alden (Purchased)

  1. Yeah, I've had days where I thought I was going to be alone but then someone usually shows up a few hours later. On days where I get that feeling I usually don't unlock our front door as it's a tricky door and I'm never sure I can lock it back up if needed! Lol. I use the side door for those days.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them all!

    Have a GREAT day!

It is nice to have a quiet week. I can't imagine a day of being all alone at work but then in my job, that would never happen lol.

I sometimes have multiple books going but it's usually several ebooks or an ebook and an audiobook. I rarely read print anymore.

    Have a good week!

  3. I love a quiet week! I got a print copy of A Mother's Promise, too, but I haven't even looked into the story. Good to know the audio is really good. I requested In the Penalty Box from my library after seeing your review. I had to suggest it for purchase because they didn't have a copy, and they usually fulfill the request, which is nice! I think some of the fantasy genre if it's a complicated plot, as some are, don't work well with audio unless you're really paying attention. Hard to do when you're doing other things while listening to audio. Have a great week, Carole! šŸ™‚

  4. Yes, a quiet week of steady things is my idea of good, too. You had a good reading/listening week and nice that you made a good call on switching to editions for the best results. That would be weird to me if I was at work all by myself all day though I had wished for it at times. šŸ™‚

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. A quiet week is a good week. A lot of people are lonely or want to see friends, but I'm happy to stay home. I like to see friends too but this isn't forever. Hopefully, things will improve with COVID now with a team that has a plan and the holiday gatherings over for a bit, and vaccines. Stay well!

  6. I LOVE being at the office alone. It used to happen all the time with my current job, but I'm not sure how often this will be a thing when I find a new one. Crossing my fingers that the quiet office days alone aren't all in my past.

The Transylvania Twist and Crown of Bones look good. I've seen both before, but I still haven't looked them up on Goodreads. I'm gonna do that right now. šŸ™‚

    Happy reading!

  7. Both The Effort and The Transylvania Twist sound interesting. I look forward to your reviews. It's rare I get to be in the office alone too, although sometimes I have been for the first half of my day. It's kind of nice–extra quiet–but it feels strange.

I hope you have a great week, Carole!

  8. The Effort is one I've been seeing some good reviews on- thinking of trying it.

I like a good routine too. Don't rock my boat haha! šŸ™‚

    Have a super week!

  9. A quiet week sounds nice though I don't know how I would feel about being alone at work for 8 hours. That sounds like it could be either amazing and productive or kind of creepy! Have a great week!
