I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week was a big unwelcome dose of reality. My shoulder has hurt me all year. When I was putting clean sheets on our bed Sunday night, I did something that caused it to be incredibly painful for the rest of the week. Between my shoulder and our recovering dog, I didn’t sleep well all week. To top things off, I had a headache for most of the week that didn’t want to go away. Some weeks just seem to go this way.

Stella is doing well and was able to have her staples removed this week. We are supposed to wait 6 more weeks until she can go for any kind of walk and another 14 weeks before restrictions are lifted. I decided to defy the doctor’s orders and started taking her on a short slow walk most days. She has too much energy and is going to hurt herself or pick a fight with one of the other dogs. I told the vet and he didn’t seem to have a problem with it.

My daughter moves to Ohio on Saturday! Just a few short days until my nest is empty once again. Her room is in the basement and she has boxes and stuff everywhere. We have been busy trying to see family since it might be a while before she sees them again. We went to a local winery with my husband’s side of the family last Sunday and Grant’s Farm, which is like a small zoo, with my sister and her family yesterday. On Friday, my older daughter and her husband plan to come to help us load up the U-Haul. The plan is for my husband to drive the U-Haul and help get the furniture moved on Saturday and fly home next Sunday.

I am going to do my best to keep up with everything on the blog but I do suspect that this will be a very busy week. I promise that things will calm down soon!

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 4 books this past week. Why Fathers Cry at Night by Kwame Alexander is not the kind of book that I usually read but I did enjoy it. The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding was the twisty thriller that I had hoped it would be. Dead Eleven by Jimmy Juliano was a creepy tale about a town stuck in the 90s. I thought that Will They or Won’t They by Ava Wilder was very well done.

I have only read just a bit of Capture the Sun by Jessie Mihalik but I hope to make some real progress with it today since it publishes on Tuesday. I have listened to about 25% of Before She Finds Me by Heather Chavez and I am hooked!

Books Added

Starling House by Alix E. Harrow (Author); You, with a View by Jessica Joyce (Publisher); Casalvento by Gudrun Cuillo (Publisher)

  1. You have a lot going on. Good luck with the move, and I am happy to hear Stella is doing well. Sorry about your shoulder. Best wishes for quick healing. I adored You with a View. May it bring you as much joy as it did me.

  2. Ouch, that’s terrible about the shoulder. And the headache. I used to have a boss who would always say “Getting old ain’t for sissies.” And isn’t that the truth? lol I hope your daughter’s move goes well!

  3. Sorry to hear about your shoulder! I hope it feels better soon! Hopefully it’s just a pinched nerve. I remember doing that once and it hurt for days but eventually eased up! Glad to hear Stella’s doing well too! I know our one dog would start going a little stir crazy himself and would decide when his own various recovery times were over! Lol. Luckily, that usually went well from what I can remember! Hope your daughter’s move goes okay!

Nice new reads! I just recently got curious about Harrow’s new book about 2 months ago or so? It popped up somewhere in my feeds and it pretty much caught my attention! Hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. I really hope next week will be nicer to you! And yes dogs sometimes don’t understand that they can’t move so we have to choose the lesser evil!

  5. It looks like you have been having a blast with your summer with all these fun activities. I am sorry to hear about the physical issues you are experiencing. Hope healing gets better for you!!!

  6. That empty nest thing is tough! Good luck with the move.

I love the cover of that Harrow book.

  7. I’m sorry it was such a rough week. I hope you get a bit of a quiet, relaxing weekend. I just got Capture the Sun on audio so I’ll be about a week behind on it. Here’s wishing you a much better week ahead.

  8. Wow, you did have a rough week health and dog wise, and so busy with your kiddo’s move. Hopefully, things will settle down for you soon. 🙂

  9. Hope your daughter loves Ohio! Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I did something with my rotator cuff once, Mr. Barb’s diagnosis, not mine, and it took 9 months for it to heal. Where he lifts weights he was able to show me some moves that helped it along. So glad Stella is getting to walk some. I think you’ve inspired me to start back in on The Hollows soon!

  10. I’m so sorry about your shoulder and your headaches! Pain is no fun. Maybe you should have it looked at and make sure you didn’t tear anything? I injured my shoulder a couple of years ago at work. I was a small tear that didn’t require surgery, thank goodness, but I did have to do PT for pain and loss of range of motion. It was discouraging at first. I thought it’d never get back to normal. I continue to do the exercises on my own and finally now it’s getting back to normal. You should see if you need to do PT. It hurts more at first but it definitely starts to work!

Happy to hear Stella is on the mend and you’re able to take her on small walks! I’m sure having to stay indoors is driving her nuts!

I picked up You, With a View too. Hope we both love it. The cover for Casalvento is so gorgeous! I’m going to see what it’s about.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear about your shoulder but glad Stella is doing well. Sounds like the slow walks are a good idea. I think a lot of restrictions are because so many people have zero common sense and would just go full out. So nice to get some family time and I’m sure your daughter has really enjoyed it. Good luck with the moving and have a great week!
