June 2023 Wrap Up

June 2023

June was an incredibly busy month!  My dog, Stella, has her 2nd ACL surgery on June 1.  I took time off work until mid-June to take care of her and then my husband took a week off.  Did I mention that this dog is SPOILED?  She can’t be outside without a leash and isn’t supposed to jump so we have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor since March and will continue to do so until her restrictions are lifted in October.

The biggest news of the month is that our younger daughter moved out of our basement and went all the way to Ohio.  Our house was in some disarray as she got everything packed.  It is a bit strange to see so much empty space in my home now.

  1. October – that’s a long recovery. You all are stellar dog parents, sleeping on the floor. I should be starting The Seven Year Slip soon (today or tomorrow) – so excited!!! I loved You with a View. I hope you do too.

  2. Congrats to your daughter! I bet that is so exciting for her. My first move out for college was one of the best years of my life. I hope she has a blast with new experiences and that you adjust to being empty nesting, I am sure that is challenging. Cling to that husband of yours haha

Great month of reading you have had, love seeing Bookshop Cinderella, that was such a fun one!

  3. You are good dog parents, spoiling Stella like that. And I’m so excited…I just won a free copy of The Seven Year Slip from Goodreads. I can’t wait to read it…especially after reading your review of it and seeing how much you loved it. 😀 Have a good weekend!

  4. I tend to spoil my cats, too. I’m glad Stella is doing well after her surgery. The move-out would definitely be a frenzy and I’ll be the empty spots and quiet will feel odd for a bit.

Way to go on your reading totals! You are ace-ing it keeping up with NetGalley and your review books.

    Have a great July, Carole!

  5. You are doing awesome. Hmm empty basement – room for more books? I tend to do everything digital except cook books, quilting or knitting books these days. It seems like you are reading a good diversity of books, too.

  6. I hope Stella recovers quickly. Sleeping on the floor is no fun. We did it for a little bit when my son’s dog had some complications from his neuter.

  7. Poor Stella! Glad she’s recovering nicely and I don’t think she’s too spoiled at all! You had a great reading month and I see so many I want to read. I hope you’re able to have a nice calm peaceful July! I bet that move was crazy but so glad it sounds like she’s nicely settled.

  8. Lots going on in June. I hope the move for your daughter proves to be a good one for her. That’s an exciting time. Hope you and your husband are settling into a new normal with just the two of you.
