I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
I have to admit that I am tired. I am writing this post after spending the whole day on my feet. I got over 13,000 steps in today according to my tracker. Two dog walks and a shift at the bookstore are more physically demanding than you would think! I worked Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at the bookstore this week in addition to my full-time job.
I took Stella (she’s the dog that has had two ACL surgeries this year) to the vet on Monday. They took x-rays of her legs to check the healing and she is doing good. Restrictions will finally be lifted in another month. I cannot wait to be able to let her run in the yard again. We have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor since March so I am ready for the day when we can get back to normal and get our mattress back on our bed.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I read 5 books this week and they were all audiobooks. I can’t imagine my life without audiobooks anymore. Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney was a very well-done thriller. I then switched gears to my first holiday book of the year Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews. I had a great time with Hex Education by Maureen Kilmer. I was in the mood for a hockey romance so I picked up Home Ice by Aven Ellis. I was very impressed by Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling and hope to read more of this author’s work soon.

I am in the middle of All the Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine Harris and cannot wait to see how things work out. I am almost done with Wild Spaces by S.L. Coney and have to admit that I am more than a little confused so I may start over once I finish since I think I might have missed a key piece of the story.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

Yesterday is the first time I regret not having some sort of stepcounter on me! I went up and down the stairs soooo many times helping my sister out with her leftovers. Then there’s the bringing into the room steps and then we took it over to her new house, so that was more steps. I eventually turned into sliding stuff in the truck closer to the edge for others to carry. But man, I woke up today feeling sore. As soon as I get a round of visits in I might be grabbing a bagel and some aleeve or something for all these aches! Lol!
Nice new reads! I’m very curious about Kim Harrison’s new book! I have that one on my list! It feels like ages since she’s had a non-Hollows release! I love her Hollows series though but am always curious about her new books too! Hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Carole, I cannot say it enough, you are a fantastic dog-mom. I don’t think I would last that long on the floor. Look at Cosimano keeping the Finlay series going. That’s great. Hex Education is on my TBR. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Sounds like a busy week! I have never heard of Ripe and the cover isn’t giving me much so I need to look it up. I slept on a blow up mattress and a couch for 3 months with Cass when he was getting aggressive with Apollo and it can wear you out. Glad Stella is doing better though. That’s great news!
Wow, you are really getting a workout. Glad your pooch is almost ready to be off restrictions. Wow, good stack of books finished this week and even better that you enjoyed them all.
Oh interesting about the Kim Harrison book I wasn’t aware of it. Of course my schedule is jam packed through to January pretty much. There’s always more I want to read. I’m sure the bookstore gives you a surprising amount of steps. I hope you get more good news on Stella. I know the month when we had to keep Lulu immobile was so difficult.

Good news about the doggie 😀
I’m glad your dog is healing and will be allowed to run again soon. That’s a lot of steps.
I feel your pain. I walk and stand for hours and my leg muscles swell up. I could sleep for days.
I’m glad to hear Stella is on the mend. I can’t imagine having to keep my pups from running. Sometimes, I feel like that is the only way they move around!
Wow – I can’t believe you work at the bookstore on top of a full-time job. I know firsthand how tiring JUST working at a bookstore can be from being on your feet all day.
So happy to hear your dog will be off restrictions soon! It’s been a long road for your family! You’ve been reading some great books. I have Home Ice as well and I hope I like it too. I hope you get some rest, Carole!
Hope Stella recovers soon and hope you have a great week.
So glad Stella will be off restrictions in a month! It’s been a long six months for you guys! That is crazy on the step counter. I get a lot of steps in teaching classes and working with dog training but not even close to that many! I hope you’re having a great week and enjoying your books.
