I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was another busy week. I worked at my part-time job on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday in addition to my normal Monday through Friday full-time job. We spent some time last Sunday hanging out with my mom. I didn’t post as often on the blog as I had planned because I was just too tired to form coherent sentences early in the week.

After leaving the bookstore on Saturday, my husband and I went to an author event held by our local library. I was thrilled to meet Paul Holes and listen to him talk during the presentation.

I am going to do my best to get around to visit everyone this week. I am working a 7 hour shift today so it may take a few days. I really do appreciate all of you!

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 5 books this week. Once again, I probably wouldn’t have finished anything if it wasn’t for audiobooks. I can listen to audiobooks at my full-time job which is great because I have no time to read anywhere else. I started the week listening to After the Forest by Kell Woods which I loved. I read half of Midnight Is the Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead with my eyes and switched over to the audiobook to finish it up. I am a huge fan of Sarina Bowen’s work and I’m Your Guy did not disappoint. I thought that Long Past Dues by James J. Butcher was a great second installment in The Unorthodox Chronicles series. Last to Leave the Room by Caitlin Starling was a book full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end.

I have read just a bit of Becoming the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar but am enjoying it so far. I just started listening to The Dead Take the A Train by Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey and loved that the story started with a bang.

Books Added

Myrtle, Means, and Opportunity by Elizabeth C. Bunce (Publisher); The Big Bang Theory by Jessica Radloff (Publisher); Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton (Publisher)

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (Publisher); Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig (Publisher)

  1. I am glad to hear that you were able to enjoy an event with your husband. That’s great that you can get through so many audiobooks at work too. Those were the days for me. Have a great week, Carole!

  2. Glad the week was a good one for the most part! I’m not familiar with that author but I am already excited to hear that Tricia Levenseller is returning to St. Charles in November! My OCD is just so tickled that I will get to have my books signed up to date again! Lol!

Nice new reads! I still need to read Gillig’s duology! I’m hoping to snag the Fairy Loot version of it in November so my copies can match! I’ll probably read it once I have both in hand! Hope you enjoy all of your lovely new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. So busy. Does this mean you are working both Saturday and now Sunday? Not good. When I am so tired at night, I only progress on my audiobook reads (daytime) unless I stay up too late for my ebook reads. You are having a very bookish life right now. I just don’t want to go to events or travel this year. Partly because I am so comfortable at home. Your reads are including more horror right now which fits in with Halloween.

  4. I’ve only worked two jobs at once for about a year and my energy was low for everything else. Glad you were able to get to a library event and enjoy five books this week.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. Glad you worked some reading in. Mr. Barb got me the Big Bang book for Christmas last week as it’s one of my favorite series. Have a good week and try not to work too hard!

  6. I’m glad you could take some time for yourself and your husband this week. Even if it was just for a day, I’m sure time off helped you relax. And I’m so jealous that you got to meet Paul Holes! Unmasked was one of my favorite reads last year!

  7. How fun to go to the author event at your library! I think my last in-person author event was Colleen Hoover back in 2018. It’s been too long! I agree that I’m Your Guy did not disappoint. I enjoyed Carter and Tommaso so much!

  8. The Dark Widow cover is stunning.
Hope you get to relax a bit and have to work a few less hours in the coming week.

  9. That’s awesome you got to meet Paul Holes! I loved his book and his work is really fascinating. I’m really curious about The Big Bang Theory book. That’s one of my favorite shows and I’ve been looking at it. Have a great week!

  10. Nice to hear you enjoyed the author event and your husband was able to attend as well!

Audiobooks are such a help when you’re busy with real life. It’s how I get through a lot of my reading lately, too.

Hope you get some downtime and rest, Carole!
