I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I feel like this was a pretty normal week. I worked at the bookstore Monday night, Thursday night, and all day Saturday. I was able to keep up with most aspects of my life but failed miserably when it came to visiting other blogs to leave comments. On the days that I work both jobs, I leave my house at 7:30 am and don’t get home until 10:30 pm. I get absolutely no downtime on those days. After my long day on Monday, I couldn’t find the motivation to do anything of any value on Tuesday night, which put me further behind. After my long day on Thursday, I knew that I needed to work on things but decided that I needed to take some time for myself instead and worked on a puzzle. It is just hard some weeks to juggle everything.

I had a pretty big scare on Monday morning when I received a message from Instagram that my account had been suspended. I had to go through a bunch of steps but was able to get everything reinstated pretty quickly. I participated in a follow train on Sunday and have a feeling that is what caused the problem because several other participants had the same issue. I plan to be very careful moving forward.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 7 books this week. Technically, I finished Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage late last week but it is going in this week’s post. I am pleased to say that I had a great time with it. I decided to put my headphones on and listen to a book while watching the Chiefs game on Sunday, and Your Shadow Half Remains by Sunny Moraine was an excellent listen. I seem to be drawn to dark academia lately and when you throw in some vampires, count me in so An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson was a perfect fit for me. I am convinced that T. Kingfisher can do no wrong and What Feasts at Night was further proof. I decided that it was time to pick up something that I didn’t have an obligation to review so I downloaded Bitten by Kelley Armstrong and am now eager to listen to more of this series. Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson kept me guessing until the very end. I found Prima Facie by Suzie Miller to be a very powerful read. I found it hard to read at times so I would check trigger warnings before jumping into this one.

I am around 20% of the way through When Grumpy Met Sunshine by Charlotte Stein. I was a little nervous about this one because the reviews have not been less than stellar, but so far so good.

  1. I keep seeing people having problems with their Instagram accounts these days! It’s freaking me out because I feel like it will spread to mine as well! Lol. Glad you were able to get thing put back to rights though! I can totally understand being wiped out after working 2 jobs where you can’t quite get yourself into blogging mode on the off days. You’re a champ for the days you do blog! Go you!!

Nice new reads! Some new to me ones here but I am super excited for Valentine’s new thriller! Her YA ones are always so good! Other than her one fantasy series and adult debut, I am just about caught up with her books but I am definitely looking forward to this one too! Hope you enjoy all of these new ones!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Some weeks are harder than others, aren’t they? A little puzzle time sounds like a nice break from everything. I am glad your Instagram account is okay. I’ve enjoyed Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series and am glad you enjoyed Bitten. Your new books all look good. A few of them are ones I have my eye on and would like to read. I hope you have a great week! Enjoy your reading!

  3. I can’t wait to read the new Stevenson book. I hate it when things happen to accounts and it’s always such an ordeal to go through and fix things. You read a great number of books, especially considering how busy work keeps you. Hope you have some down time soon?

  4. If it was the follow train, that’s weird. The powers that be going a little over the top at IG. I had set When Grumpy Met Sunshine aside because my mood wasn’t having it, but I did not give up. Glad to hear it is going well for you. I loved Out on a Limb and am looking forward to reading more from Bonam-Young. I hope these are all great for you

  5. You are really keeping up on the reading. I’m relieved the Instagram thing wasn’t a bigger hassle. I’m so glad you took some time for yourself. When I worked really long days I would sometimes stay up in the night and read because the time to myself was more important to me than sleeping. Of course, one can’t do that every single night. That was back when I worked 7 days a week, nearly every week. Take care of yourself.

  6. So glad that you were able to get your Instagram account back! Everyone on the Train is a Suspect is on my TBR as is the previous book. I’m looking forward to reading it! I hope you are having a nice relaxing week!

  7. I’m glad you enjoyed Bitten! I have enjoyed that whole series (some MCs more than others, naturally), but I read them all in print so I wasn’t sure what the narrator would be like.
