Stacking the Shelves #162

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I thought that this was going to be a calm week.  I forgot that we had tickets to see Garth Brooks in concert last Saturday night.  There were 70,000 people at the concert which was a bit overwhelming.   Climbing the stairs at the concert, I realized just how out of shape I am so I joined the local recreation center on Sunday.  I can work out while I listen to audiobooks so I am pretty excited to start going regularly.

My daughter performed with her jazz ensemble at the school’s variety show Thursday night which took up our whole evening.  Late Thursday, my daughter received some really exciting news.  I can’t share any details for a couple of weeks but we are all really happy about it.

This week was busy enough that I had a very hard time keeping up with comments.  I am pretty sure that this weekend will be calm…at least I hope it will…so I am going to do my best to get around to visit everyone as soon as I can.

Books Added

Crimson Lake by Candice Fox (Bookish First)
Redemption Point by Candice Fox (Bookish First)

I was thrilled to win copies of the first two books in the Crimson Lake series from Bookish First.

Cursed by Benedict Jacka (Purchased)
Taken by Benedict Jacka (Purchased)
Chosen by Benedict Jacka (Purchased)

I picked up the next three books in the Alex Verus series this week.  I have already listened to Cursed and plan to get started with Taken very soon.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I think I need to add Benedict Jacka to my series catchup so I can get it read this year! I need to get more series read this year and I'm trying to get the urban fantasy ones done first.

  2. Yeah, I heard that that concert was packed since it was sold out! Yikes! Lol. Congrats for your daughter on the super secret great news! I'm sure it's awesome!

Nice new reads too! All new to me ones. Congrats on your wins!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. I avoid concerts because I get overwhelmed by the number of people. Glad you had a good time. I listen to audiobooks as I workout too. I'm doing a relisten right now. NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. I've gotten behind on writing reviews, so I thought I would take a break from review books while I get caught up. And, there is a TV show based on the book on AMC starting this summer. It seemed like a good time to revisit the book. I loved it so much the first time. Have a great week.

  4. Garth Brooks!!!! I'm sure it was a great concert. So many people, like going to a college football game I imagine.

I started a nonfiction book called Atomic Habits by James Clear. Interesting stuff about how our brains work and setting goals and our activities and stuff.

  5. My daughter won't go to concerts or movies anymore because of the loud sound. I went to see Tower of Power Monday, so I also got my jazz this week! I hope your week ahead is less scheduled. Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. I love going to live music shows. With my concert partner so far away, I never go anymore, and I sort of miss it. Hope you had a good time. Congrats on the book wins. What a nice surprise for you! Yeah for joining the gym. I need to get inspired like you.

  7. I've never been, but that must be crazy to be at such a big concert. I huff and puff on stairs, too. Yay for getting back to shape with audios to help.
Looks like the Alex Verus series has you hooked. 🙂

    Have a great week, Carole!

  8. Can't wait to hear your daughter's exciting news. 70,000? That's too many people in one place for me. I used to go to a lot of concerts in high school and college but don't think I could do it now. I have a lower tolerance for idiots and there's too many out there that would ruin it for me and the others just wanting to enjoy the show. Glad you had fun!

  9. I hope this week is nice and calm!! I haven't been to a concert in a long time, not sure I could handle that many people. Your books look good! Enjoy!

  10. Ahh I hope you enjoyed the concert! It may have been a lot of people but I do hope the music and performance were worth it. And I definitely support this joining of the local center. Working out while listening to audiobooks sounds like a good way to pass an hour or two here and there!
