Stacking the Shelves #178

Posted July 13, 2019 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 16 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a pretty quiet week.  My daughter felt pretty rough after having her wisdom tooth removed last Saturday.  She started feeling better around mid-week and our house has been filled once again by teenagers.  It is hard to believe that she is going to be off to college in about a month!

A piece of trim fell off of our new Jeep late this week and left the car looking pretty bad.  I was able to talk the dealership into fixing it for me at no cost so that was a pretty big win in my book.

I finally feel like things have gotten back to normal around here which is a very good thing!

Books Added
The Luster of Lost Things by Sophie Chen Keller
Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham
Does This Beach Make Me Look Fat? by Lisa Scottoline & Francesca Serritella
Little Nothing by Marisa Silver
The Most Dangerous Place on Earth by Lindsey Lee Johnson

I had to go to the local dollar store to pick up some thank you notes for my daughter.  I am not sure what happened but these books somehow came home with me.  I actually have already read two of them but I didn’t have a copy for my collection yet.

An American Weredeer in Michigan by C.T. Phipps & Michael Suttkus (For Review)
Part-Time Gods by Rachel Aaron

I was offered a copy of An American Weredeer in Michigan for review and decided to go for it since I enjoyed the first book in the series.  I had a coupon balance of little over a dollar in my Audible account so I applied that to the purchase of Part-Time Gods since the audiobook was only $1.99 after borrowing the book from Kindle Unlimited.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Yeah, I remember when I had 5 of my wisdom teeth pulled, I thought I would be fine to go to work the next day. Needless to say I had to have my mom call me in because my teeth/mouth was still too sore for speaking. I can't remember when I was back to normal for 5 teeth, but it definitely wasn't the next day! Lol.

Nice new reads! I saw a few interesting books at our dollar store…sad thing was I had them already! Lol. Hope you enjoy all of your lovely new reads!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. I'm glad that things are feeling a bit better for you guys. Fingers crossed that you have a few quiet months and good reading to look forward to!

  3. I'm glad it is getting a bit more normal. I'm sorry to hear about the wisdom tooth aftermath since my daughter is getting hers out later this month. I wish I could have normal for just a bit. Have an even more normal week and enjoy your time with your daughter before she heads off to school!

  4. I can't believe your dealership agreed to fix your car for free. The universe was definitely smiling down on you. That's awesome. Wow! Is there really only one month left until the kids start going back to school? Crazy! Hope you and hubs enjoy your empty nest.

  5. It's funny how books find their way home with us sometimes, isn't it haha? And wisdom teeth can be tough- hope your daughter is feeling better!

An American Weredeer in Michigan looks kinda fun- and as a Michigan resident I love the title! šŸ™‚

  6. hopefully she feels better soon! I can't relate, I somehow got lucky with my wisdom tooth not growing, or there's enough room in my big mouth

  7. Glad your daughter is doing okay. I really enjoyed The Luster of Lost Things when I read it. Glad the dealership fixed the vehicle too!

  8. Having my wisdom teeth removed was a nightmare! I woke up in the middle of my surgery because someone misread my dosage. Would not recommend!! I hope your daughter starts feeling better soon. Slightly frozen peaches were my only reprieve.

You added a lot of new books this week! Maybe they'll all be five-star reads? One can dream! šŸ˜‰
