Stacking the Shelves #227

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
What a week!  I am actually a bit flabbergasted as I write this post.  We just found out in the middle of drafting this post that our buyer’s financing fell through and we are going to have to put the house back on the market.  We were just days from closing and now we have to start the process all over again.  I know that there are much bigger problems in the world but boy this sucks.
We did have a good weekend.  My daughter decided to take a quick trip home from college and my older daughter and her boyfriend stopped by to visit and help me and my husband get my big bookcase in my book room (Yes, I have a book room ?) This monster bookcase had to go in through the window which actually turned out not to be too difficult of a task.  My mom even stopped by for a bit so it was a nice weekend overall.

A panoramic view of one wall in my book room with the big bookcase in place.

I had hoped to get back to my usual routines, including blogging very soon.  I really don’t know what is going to happen now that we are starting the home selling process over again.  I appreciate everyone for sticking with me.

What I’m Reading
I finished a couple of books last week and I hope that I can continue the trend moving forward.  I finished listening to Ink & Sigil by Kevin Hearne and really enjoyed it.  I absolutely loved The Dark Archive by Genevieve Cogman and am so happy that I jumped ahead to read that one.

I am also making good progress on Betty by Tiffany McDaniel and am finding that book much harder to put down.  I have been listening to Sisters in White by Melissa Foster and don’t feel completely hooked by it just yet but hope that it grabs me very soon.

Books Added

The Russian Cage by Charlaine Harris (NetGalley)
A Stranger in Town by Kelley Armstrong (NetGalley)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Bummer about the financing falling through on your buyers. That stinks to get so far and then have to start all over! But that bookcase sure makes up for it! Lol! I'm hoping to get into my own place in a year or so, need to try saving up a little more and it's a priority that I have a library room! Lol. It's one thing I am looking forward to!

Nice new reads too! I picked up Kelley's book a few weeks ago. It's going to force me to get caught up in the series for sure!

  2. Nothing says you-have-arrived like a book room. Congratulations! Sorry to hear about your sale falling through. I hope another buyer comes along quickly

  3. Oh, no! In 2007, when I was selling my house, the buyer's financing fell through, too. I was in escrow on a house I was purchasing with a contingency, so I had to start all over with that again, too.

I hope it works out for you!

I love your bookshelves and the look of your bookworm. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing…and have a great week.

  4. I love that you have a bookroom! And so glad you got the big bookcase in. How frustrating about the buyers on all sides. I hope the reselling goes smoothly and quickly!

  5. Ugh, I'm sorry that happened. But the new book room looks awesome! I also got Dark Archive and I look forward to The Stranger in Town on audio.

Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. Man, sorry to hear about the house going back on the market. Your shelves are fabulous and I'm glad you got to see your girls and mom this weekend. I'm hoping I get picked for the latest Casey Duncan, too.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  7. Oh no that really sucks, especially when everything was so close to the end. I hope another offer comes very soon. The one bright side is how amazing that bookcase looks!
