From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Vincent comes the first book in her The Shifters series, set in a world where the line between man and beast is blurred and the only constant is attraction.

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I'd been warned about Strays—werecats without a Pride—constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back…for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever—and whoever—I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays—'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them….

Previously published.

Why did I add Stray to my bookshelf?

So, I have read this book but it has been so long that I remember absolutely nothing about it. I would like to re-read this book and continue with the rest of the series before the year is over. I gave this book 3 stars the first time that I read it so I hope that I like it a bit more the second time around. I remember my sister loving this series and I hope to have a very similar experience.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

  1. OOMG! I looooooooved this series!!! The series really does get more exciting as it goes on. I remember I used to be on Rachel’s discussion board because of this series and her first YA one. It’s what I did before I started blogging and it was because of this series that I started my blog! So it’s a very special series to me. LOL. Hope you like it more the second time around if you decide to read the rest of the series!

  2. I read this so long ago – probably in 2007 when it was released or 2008. I loved it and think I read the second one but then it feel into the incompleted series catergory. Darn it, now you make me want to add it to my TBR for my Urban Fantasy era this year.

  3. I know I read this book, but I also know I didn’t like it enough to continue with the series. I hope your re-read experience is better than my first read was! At least you already know you liked this book the first time you tried it.

  4. I have had this one on my wish list since it released. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy your re-read and the rest of the series this time around.

  5. I do want to read this series! I have been wanting to explore more UF! I just need to research the romantic aspect in the series to see if it would work for me. Its always fun to reconnect with old favorites!

  6. I’ve had a few times where I was really meh on a book and ended up really loving it on a reread. I hope this is one of those for you!
